CVA League highlights strong teams

NDF A Volleyball Club collected wins in the second round of the Central league.
The second round of the Central Volleyball Association (CVA) League began on 17 June and will conclude on 12 August. A number of matches for men and women were played at the Windhoek Show Grounds on Saturday.
Andreas Engombe has been the coach of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) A Volleyball Club since the beginning of the year. He says the men’s team is outstanding in its technique as they have mostly recorded wins since the second round took off.
“We only lost one match against the Khomas Nampol Volleyball Club, which is one of the teams we are competing against,” he said.
Easy win
Engombe was happy with the performance on Saturday morning after his men’s team managed to win their first match of the day against the Namibia University of Science and Technology (Nust) Eliminators. NDF took the match by three sets to nil.
Afterwards, the NDF team celebrated their victory and happily shared their experiences. Engombe said for his team, it felt as a warm up. He noted the Nust team was not particularly strong. “We just won 3-0 easily!” he said.
He further added that engaging the mind is crucial for the sport. “It is all in the mind, when it comes to volleyball,” he said.
Engombe said winning the CVA League would feel as though they have won the Champion’s League.
A member of the NDF A team, Vaino Namukomba, says after joining the club in 2017, the sport has improved his skill and fitness. “Volleyball is fun, it’s a lifestyle and it is enjoyable,” he said.
Some of the ways the team keeps the energy high on the court includes communication amongst players and keeping their eye on the prize.
