Napso seven-a-side finals excites
The Namibian Private School Organisation (Napso) seven-a-side finals took place at Pro-Ed Academy in Swakopmund this weekend, with six schools partaking.
Pro-Ed Academy, the hosts, Elnatan, Gobabis Gymnasium, Tsumeb Gymnasium, Walvis Bay Primary School and Windhoek Afrikaans Private School (WAP) took part.
With three sports codes taking place, namely hockey, netball and rugby, Pro-Ed Academy was fully packed this weekend. Florinda Fourie, the sports coordinator at Pro-Ed Academy, said: "We had the league games that took place at Elnatan and WAP earlier this year, but today we have the hockey seven-a-side finals, netball seven-a-side finals, and rugby seven-a-side finals, which we are very excited for."
Winners
At the prize-giving, the under-19 Elnatan rugby team took first place; Pro-Ed Academy took second place; and Tsumeb Gymnasium took third place.
In the u/19 girls hockey tournament, Pro-Ed Academy's first team took first place, and Pro-Ed Academy's second team took second place.
Tsumeb Gymnasium took third place.
The u/19 boys hockey also saw Pro-Ed Academy's first team take the top prize, with their second team securing second and Tsumeb Gymnasium taking third place.
In the u/19 netball tournament, Pro-Ed put on a brilliant performance and took first place, with Tsumeb Gymnasium taking second place and Elnatan securing third.
Alvaro Diergaardt, who captains the Pro-Ed u/15 rugby team, said: "We really did well today; I enjoyed myself. Today's games were tough, but I think it was good to play to make sure we are ready for the A League."
