Vermeulen, Krahenbuhl crowned bowls champs
The Bowls Champion of Champions tournament took place at Eros Bowling Club over the weekend. All the bowling clubs in Namibia showed up to take part in the competition, with Eros Bowling Club, TransNamib Bowling Club, Windhoek Bowling Club, Swakopmund Bowls Club, Namib Park Bowling Club and Tsumeb Bowling Club duking it out for top honours.
Namibia Bowling Association's Desmond van der Smit said: “What basically happens here is that players from all bowling clubs in Namibia come together to compete and the winners are crowned the champions”.
Lesley Vermeulen from Eros Bowling Club secured first place in the women’s singles, while Conny Jannetjies from the Tsumeb Bowling Club finished in second place.
“It was surprising, really. The competition was really tough, the bowls of the ladies in Namibia is really good. All in all, very happy with the win,” Vermeulen said after being announced as the winner.
Axel Krahenbuhl from the Swakopmund Bowls Club was on top of his game as he took first place for the men, with Schalk van Wyk from the TransNamib Bowling Club securing second place.
