Napha excited about future of hunting

The future of hunting in Namibia is something the Namibia Professional Hunting Association (Napha) is very excited about, especially with growing interest in the courses it is offering.

The association said the October examination - conducted by the tourism ministry - is just around the corner, and nearly 40 people have already registered.

“And the great news is that there is still time to sign up before the end of September.”

According to Napha, it has introduced a comprehensive manual that covers everything from game species to rifle handling, and the association is thrilled by how well it has been received.

“In fact, the demand has been so high that we are struggling to keep up with production.”

Napha said this manual, used alongside the ministry’s legislation manual, is a key resource for anyone preparing for the exam.

"Encouraging young people to get involved in the industry has been a priority for Napha and a Young Hunters Open Day held on 6 September was fully booked, showing just how much interest there is among the younger generation. The day was filled with talks from industry professionals, a fun shoot and a relaxing braai, providing an opportunity for young hunters to learn more about the profession," the association said in a statement.

“Seeing this level of enthusiasm gives us great confidence in the future of the hunting profession in Namibia.”

Napha pointed out that the increasing participation in its courses and events is a clear sign that young hunters are eager to learn and contribute, adding that the association is proud to be a part of this exciting time for the industry.
